The band program at Ardrey Kell High School has been a symbol of success and pride for the high school and the community of South Charlotte since the school opened in 2006. The program has received many awards ranging from marching band and concert ensembles to the indoor winter performing groups. Over two hundred and seventy students participate in concert band, symphonic band, jazz ensemble, wind symphony, marching band, winter guard, indoor percussion and indoor winds.

Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble are the primary performing groups at Ardrey Kell High School. Every student must participate in one of these ensembles unless they are a color guard member who does not play a band instrument.

The Jazz Ensemble is made up of students from the three concert bands and is a class that meets during the school day.

​

The Mighty Knight Marching Band is the largest performing and competing group on the campus of Ardrey Kell High School. Students get credit for marching band as it is a ninth class on their schedule. Rehearsal times occur during the summer and after school.
