Jazz Ensemble is a class exclusively for band students that have successfully passed an audition and received a director’s approval. Students must also be a member of another band class.

 

Students will be studying jazz ensemble music and all of its various styles through the performance of jazz literature. Students will demonstrate the highest level of proficiency on their instrument and will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of playing fundamentals including scales, improvisation and rhythms.

 

Jazz Ensemble students will perform multiple concerts throughout the year. They will be responsible for some community performances.

 

Jazz Ensemble students are eligible to audition for Western Regional Jazz Band.
